VIVEKANANDA JAYANTI

CELEBRATION OF SWAMI VIVEKANANDA JAYANTI

‘You have to grow from the inside out; none can teach you, none can make you spiritual, there is no other teacher but your own soul’’.- Swami Vivekananda

Ganga is not merely a river, Himalayas are not merely mountains and Hindutav is not merely a religion, in the same way, Swami Vivekananda is not merely a saint; he was a true sense a spiritual leader; a great teacher; a patriotic Indian and one of the best creations of almighty indeed. Today we have celebrated 159th birth anniversary of a great saint our nation.

He used to say, my name should not be made prominent, it is my ideas that we want to be realised and we must remember that ideas come from vision and dreams, which in turn gives rise to action. Swamiji dreamed of making the India world leader and he performed everything, everything that was possible for him to turn his dreams into reality. Even, Mahatma Gandhi once said that it is the idea of Swamiji which made me realised that, I must do something for India, just imagine what a personality he was, that even after more than hundred years of Swamiji’s leaving the world we are celebrating his birth anniversary.

Today, on 12th January on his birth anniversary, we wish that we are blessed with all the energy and strength to the right thing in life, Swami Vivekananda was one of the greatest spiritual leaders of India and was credited with bringing the glory of the Hindu philosophy to the global platform. A lot has been written and said about Swamiji, he has been called a monk; a prophet; a nationalist; a philosopher; a social reformer; a prolific writer, an educationist and so on.

Swami Vivekananda was born on12thJanuary,1863 as NarendraNath Datta in Kolkata into an aristocratic Bengali kayastha family and became a disciple of the former saint, Swami Ramakrishna Paramhansa. He quoted that

‘Be the servant while leading, be unselfish, have infinite patience, and success is yours’’.Swami Vivekananda

He pushed for national integration in colonial India and his famous speech remains as the one that he gave in Chicago in 1893.To honour his many contributions to the country. It was a decision of Government of India in 1984 to celebrate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananada ,i.e 12 January as ‘’National Youth Day’’, and since 1985, the event is celebrated in India every year.

The government of India quoted that the philosophy of Swamiji and the ideals of which he lived and worked could be a great source of inspiration for Indian youth. As youth is regarded as the building blocks of the country that takes it to the pathway of success. The greatest assets of the country come from the youth that leaves a significant impact on how our future’s going to be like; the youth fills zeal and energy and boosts the country in various ways.

The way to social reformation and liberal thinking evolves through the young people who thrive on having their own opinions. The opinions then bring betterment to society.

The main objective of National Youth Day is to promote rational thinking among the youth, believed to be the future of the country. It is believed to be the future of the country. It is expected to the youth to rise to the occasion, fight for the right and channels their inner energies, just like Swami Vivekananda would have.

Swami Vivekananda was called the ‘’National Saint of India’’, because of his continuous and rigorous effect to boost youth’s potential. He believed that a person could attain almost anything if he has the courage to see beyond what it is and what he desires to become.  His message was simple yet powerful. He conveyed his ideas directly to the people, especially to the youth. He said:-

‘Whatever you think, that you will be, if you think yourselves weak, weak you will be, if you think yourselves strong, strong you will be’’.- Swami Vivekananda

In our school campus also we have celebrated this auspicious occasion with full spirit. Many programmes have been conducted for students. It is entirely fitting that the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda is observed as National Youth Day to rekindle the eternal message of the great patriot. With having hopes of a developed India Swami Vivekananda aspired to lead the vision of youth and transform them into reality. On this day, we commemorate his revolutionary ideas that hold utmost importance for us.Now, as you know all about National Youth Day, Implement Swami Vivekananda ideas, who always hoped for a strong and empowered youth and transform your ideas.Be the change of the future!Let us realise the relevance of Swami Vivekananda in these exciting and challenging times. Let us all unite and work for the country with purity, patience and perseverance and try to listen the exhorting of Swami Vivekananda.

‘Arise, Awake, and stop not till the goal is reached’’- Swami Vivekananda

May you all shinebright.

Happy National Youth Day.
